Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has partnered with UN Women India for the 2025 edition of the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which began on November 25 and runs till December 10. This year, the campaign is launching under the theme “UNiTE to End Digital Viloence against All Women and Girls”, putting a spotlight on the alarming rise of online harassment, cyberstalking, non-consensual image manipulation, deepfakes and other technology-facilitated abuses.
With over 37 million followers across social media, Samantha brings considerale influence to the cause. In a video message released in partnership with UN Women India, she acknowledged the impact of digital violence.
Samantha went on to emphasise that many victims of ongoing abuse are real people whose dignity and sense of security are at stake, calling fir stronger legal protection, platform accountability and societal awareness. “Behind every abusive comment or manipulated image is a real person whose dignity must be protected,” she stated.
Through this campaign, Samantha and UN Women India are not merely raising awareness, they are urging governments, tech platforms, and citizens to treat online abuse as serious violence, demanding accountability and protection for victims.
