A total of 312 Malaysian Indian youths have successfully completed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes at 16 prestigious institutions across China. These programmes, which focus on equipping students with practical skills and knowledge for various industries, were conducted at renowned institutions such as Chongqing Industry Polytechnic University and Linyi Vocational University of Science and Technology.
The graduates were celebrated at the Malaysia-China Youth TVET Training Appreciation Ceremony, organised by the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) for the 2024/2025 session. As part of the event, a new strategic partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Belia Mahir and Malaysian Indian Youth Council (MIYC), aiming to build a more structured pathway for skills and talent development among Indian youths in Malaysia.

According Belia Mahir’s president, Mohammad Rizan Hassan, the programme reflects how national policies are enabling real opportunities in an era of rapid technological changes. He emphasised that early exposure to advanced training abroad helps youth adapt to new employment landscapes shaped by technology.
Mohammad Rizan Hassan, President of Belia Mahir, expressed his gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zaidi, who is also the chairman of the National TVET Council. He acknowledged Dr. Zaidi’s guidance in positioning the organisation as a regional leader by developing a highly skilled, globally-minded workforce that is prepared to embrace new technologies.

The trainees focused on acquiring studies and skills in various sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, electric vehicles (EV) and automotive technology, mechatronics and industrial automation, semiconductors and electronics, digital commerce, and other critical industrial technologies. These areas are expected to play a significant role in driving Malaysia’s economy in the coming years.
The event was officiated by the Deputy President of the Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) underscoring the government’s commitment to mainstreaming TVET as a key route into Malaysia’s new economy as a viable future oriented path.
With a planned expansion of the programme, an additional 500 places have been announced under MCYTT-MITRA 2.0 for the 2025/2026 session which could be a move that could potentially open the door for more Malaysian youth to access similar training and career prospects road.
