The Madani government has strengthened Malaysia’s social safety net in 2025, delivering the highest level of direct financial assistance in national history, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

Datuk Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, said the government has prioritised families, low-income communities, and disaster-affected citizens by expanding targeted aid and ensuring rapid-response support whenever crises occur.

“All of this reflects the Madani government’s commitment to ensuring every household is supported, with no one left behind or marginalised,” he said in a statement.

Record Cash Assistance for Malaysians

According to government data, RM13 billion has been channelled in 2025 through Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) and Rahmah Basics Necessities Aid (SARA). These programs are designed to help households manage daily expenses amid economic pressures and rising living costs.

In addition, the government introduced a one-off SARA payment of RM100 for all Malaysians aged 18 and above, redeemable via MyKad between 31st August and 31st December. The initiative ensures broader support beyond lower-income groups, offering relief to youths, workers, and vulnerable individuals.

Immediate Assistance for Flood Victims

Recognising the increasing impact of severe weather and floods, the Madani administration has also strengthened disaster response mechanisms. Under the Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI) programme, RM1,000 was allocated to each family affected by floods, RM10 million channelled specifically to Sabah, and RM50 million allocated for Kelantan and Terengganu.

These measures aim to ensure victims receive fast, meaningful assistance to rebuild their lives.

A People-Centred Policy Approach

Datuk Anwar emphasised that the government’s expanded welfare support reflects a people-first governance philosophy, ensuring that compassion, inclusivity, and fairness remain at the heart of national policy.
