There had been uncertainty over whether cash aid for single individuals under the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) programme would continue. Beginning in 2026, single STR recipients below the age of 60 will no longer receive direct cash assistance.
Instead, the government has introduced the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA), which provides RM600 annually in cashless credit, channelled as RM50 per month. The credit is usable at selected supermarkets and participating retail outlets nationwide for the purchase of essential daily items.
The move marks a shift towards a more structured assistance mechanism. By replacing cash payments with targeted cashless credits, the government aims to ensure that financial aid is directed specifically toward basic necessities and daily household needs, while continuing support for low-income single individuals.

Eligibility Criteria for STR 2026 (Single Category)
Single individuals may apply for STR 2026 if they meet the following conditions:
- Malaysian citizens who are single, single parents, or widows/widowers without children
- Aged 21–59 years
- Single persons with disabilities (OKU) eligible from 19 years old
- Not enrolled as full-time students at any public or private higher education institution
- Monthly income of RM2,500 or below
Beneficiaries of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) 2026 and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programmes can verify their eligibility and payment status through the official MySTR portal. For individuals whose applications were not approved during the initial phase, an appeal window will be opened in early 2026, allowing applicants to submit the necessary supporting documents for reassessment by the authorities.
