AirAsia X (AAX) is set to reconnect Malaysia with South Korea’s dynamic port city of Busan, announcing the return of it’s direct Kuala Lumpur-Busan service starting 17th June 2026.

Operating four times weekly, the route marks a significant milestone for the airline as it’s 21st international destination and it’s second getaway into South Korea, reaffirming AAX as the only airline in Malaysia offering nonstop flights to Busan.

AAX chief executive officer Benyamin Ismail said the resumption reflects strong demand for the route and the airline’s commitment to opening up more long-haul travel opportunities.

“We’re thrilled to bring back this beloved route and proud to be the only airline in Malaysia operating direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Busan, a city of many wonders. AirAsia X’s focus has always been on making long-haul travel more accessible and resuming  this route reflects our disciplined approach to growing our network whilst enabling more travellers to enjoy new travel experiences and adventures,” he said.

Building on it’s existing Seoul service, the Busan route further strengthens AirAsia X’s expansion across North Asia, which continues to be one of it’s strongest growth regions. The airline also expects increased inbound travel from South Korea, especially in line with Visit Malaysia 2026.

To mark the route’s return, AAX is offering special promotional fares starting from RM299 all-in-one way for Economy and RM999 all-in one-way for Premium Flatbed, available until 18th January 2026, for travel between 17th June and 30th November 2026.

Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with overnight departures from Kuala Lumpur and convenient morning arrivals in Busan, making it ideal for holidaymakers planning extended getaways.

As South Korea’s second-largest city, Busan is famed for it’s golden beaches, bustling Jagalchi Fish Market, colourful hillside villages and vibrant food culture. Home to the globally recognised Busan International Film Festival, the city blends natural beauty with urban excitement, offering travellers a refreshing alternative to Seoul.
