Music composer, actor, filmmaker and producer Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi has officially announced Meesaya Muruku 2, the long-awaited film to his 2017 cult hit, during his concert in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.
The announcement was made on Saturday, 17th January 2026, at the Return of the Dragon: The Final Showdown concert held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. In front of a packed crowd, Aadhi confirmed that the sequel, long speculated by fans, has now been set in motion.
A Cult Favourite Returns
Released in 2017, Meesaya Muruku struck a chord with audiences for it’s relatable storytelling, independent spirit and music-driven narrative. Loosely inspired by Aadhi’s own journey, the film followed a young musician navigating ambition, friendship, setbacks, and self-belief.

Aadhi not only starred in the film but also directed and composed the music, a creative approach that became a signature of the project. The film went on to become a commercial success and developed a loyal fan following with audiences repeatedly calling for a sequel over the years.
Focus on Friendship Once Again
Sharing early details on stage, Aadhi revealed that Meesaya Muruku 2 will once again revolve around the bond between two friends, with Harshanth Khan set to play the friend role.
While the storyline remains under wraps, the emphasis on friendship suggests a continuation of the emotional core that made the first film resonate with viewers.
More Details to Follow
Further announcements regarding the cast, crew, and production timeline are expected in the coming months. He revealed the film might be released in Summer 2026.
With Meesaya Muruku 2, Aadhi appears set to return to the creative space that first cemented his place as filmmaker, blending music, personal storytelling and youthful energy, much to the excitement of fans who have been waiting nearly a decade for the sequel.
