The Human Resource Ministry has launched the Vetri Madani Skills Programme 2026 (Vetri), an inclusive skills development initiative aimed at empowering the Malaysian Indian Community through structured training and employment opportunities.
Introduced by Human Resources Minister YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, the programme is designed to enhance employability and improve quality of life by equipping participants with industry-relevant, future-ready skills. The initiative aligns with the focus areas of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and supports the ministry’s broader goal of building an inclusive and resilient workforce.

Focus on Future-Ready Skills
According to the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), Vetri Madani will offer training across several high-growth and strategic sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cybersecurity and information security, cloud infrastructure, data science and analytics, automation, robotics and Industry 4.0, as well as semiconductor and advanced electronics engineering.
The programme is structured to provide clear training pathways that respond to current industry needs while opening up sustainable employment opportunities for participants.

Launched During Ponggal Celebrations
The launch took place during a Ponggal celebration at the Sri Siva Subramaniar Temple in Sungai Buloh, held in conjunction with the nationwide Ponggal Day festivities marking the harvest festival.

HRD Corp said the timing of the launch reflects the programme’s community-focused approach, reaffirming it’s commitment to inclusive talent development and social upliftment.
RM10 Million Allocation, 2,000 Participants Targeted
As the implementing agency, HRD Corp has allocated RM10 Million for the programme, with a target of training 2,000 participants nationwide. The focus will be on enhancing employability through recognised professional certifications that support long-term career progression.

To ensure nationwide reach and effective delivery, HRD Corp will collaborate with State Skills Development and HRD Corp-registered training providers.
Transparent and Accessible Implementation
In line with it’s commitment to good governance and transparency, HRD Cop said the Vetri Madani Skills Programme will be administered fully online, while training sessions will be conducted either physically or in hybrid mode.
HRD Corp added that the initiative supports national economic growth by promoting upward mobility and ensuring that communities traditionally underrepresented in high-tech industries are not left behind in Malaysia’s skills transformation journey.
