Batu Caves, one of Malaysia’s most iconic Hindu pilgrimage sites, has added a major new attraction for visitors which is a modern, state-of-the-art museum designed to highlight the cultural and historical significance of this renowned landmark.
The museum, officially inaugurated by the Chairman of Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam, Tan Sri Datuk Dr. R. Nadarajah. The museum combines modern design, interactive displays, and advanced technology, offering visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about the rich heritage of Batu Caves.
The newly opened museum is not just a showcase of artifacts. It has been designed to provide a dynamic educational experience for both local devotees and international tourists. Visitors can explore exhibits that detail the history of the Batu Caves temples, the significance of Lord Murugan in Tamil Hindu tradition, and the evolution of the site as a spiritual and cultural hub in Malaysia.
Batu Caves is already famous for its majestic 42.7-meter statue of Lord Murugan, limestone caves, and the annual Thaipusam festival, which draws thousands of devotees every year. The addition of the museum adds a new dimension to the site, allowing visitors to learn about its historical, spiritual, and cultural context while enjoying the natural beauty and sacred atmosphere of the area.
The museum entry fees are as follows:
Children – RM9.00
Adults – RM13.00
Entry is free for children under 5 years old.
