Maha Shivaratri, known as the “Night of Lord Shiva’” will be observed on 15 February 2026 (Sunday), ushering in one of the most spiritually significant nights in the Hindu calendar. Celebrated by million devotees worldwide, this sacred occasion is marked by night-long prayers, fasting, meditation and special poojas dedicated to Lord Shiva
Unlike other Hindu festivals that are often vibrant and celebratory, Maha Shivaratri is deeply reflective and devotional. It is a night when devotees remain awake, symbolising spiritual alertness and the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance.

Devotees observe four important Kaala Poojai (time-specific rituals) throughout the night:
15 February 2026 (Sunday)
1st Kaala Poojai: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
2nd Kaala Poojai: 9:00 pm – 12:00 am
16 February 2026 (Monday)
3rd Kaala Poojai: 12:00 am to 3:00 am
4th Kaala Poojai: 3:00 am – 6:00 am
As Maha Shivaratri 2026 approaches, temples around the world are preparing for an evening filled with devotion, divine chants and sacred rituals. Whether observed at home or in temples, the essence of this holy night remains the same, surrendering to Lord Shiva with a pure hear and unwavering faith.
