A 22-year-old trooper undergoing military training in Pahang has died, prompting his family to appeal to public to stop circulating unverified claims about the cause of his death.
Trooper K. Indiran was attending the Class 1 Armour Crew Course at the 10th Mile Army Camp in Kuantan when he was found unconscious by a colleague on 18 February 2026 and rushed to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for treatment. He died at the hospital the following day.
Initial police investigations and the post-mortem have found no signs of physical injury, leading authorities to classify the case as a sudden death report while further analysis continues. Authorities are awaiting laboratory results to determine the exact cause of death.
The tragedy has sparked social media speculation, with some users suggesting the death was linked to bullying or abuse at the military camp. However, both police and the soldier’s family have dismissed these claims.

Indiran’s mother, S. Usha has urged the public to stop spreading speculation, warning that unfounded allegations could harm the reputation of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). She stressed that the post-mortem showed no evidence of bullying, beating or other physical harm.
Usha described her son as healthy and eager to serve, noting he had reported that training was tough but normal, not abusive. She acknowledged the family’s shock and grief, especially since they had spoken to him just one day before he was found unconscious.
Indiran was the son of Major C. Kayamboo, a Royal Malaysian Air Force pilot who died in a 2016 aircraft crash. He had completed earlier phases of army training and reportedly planned family gatherings before his sudden collapse.
The family is preparing to lay him to rest beside his father, and has urged patience while the full investigation is completed, expected to take several months.
