After years of discussions, the construction of the much-anticipated SJKT Pangkor is finally set to commence. Dato’ A. Sivanesan, the Member of Parliament for Perak, has announced that a budget of RM14.2 million has been allocated for the new Tamil school.
The project, which experienced delays due to various unavoidable circumstances, has now secured funding. Construction is expected to begin in May 2026, with completion expected by the end of 2028. Dato’ Sivanesan emphasized the importance of monitoring the project’s progress, stating that the Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) will be required to submit monthly reports to ensure that the construction proceeds smoothly and without issues.

In addition to the school project, Dato’ A Sivanesan addressed concerns regarding the land issues faced by 42 temples in the state. He reassured the community that efforts are being made to resolve these land disputes amicably and to prevent any unauthorized demolitions. A special monitoring team has been established to oversee the situation closely, ensuring that all temple land issues are handled appropriately.
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from the local community, as the new school and resolution of land issues are seen as significant steps toward supporting educational and cultural needs in the region.
