After a critically acclaimed premiere and an enthusiastic reception in India, Radhe! Radhe! 2.0- The Sweet Surrender returns to Malaysian stages in 2026 with an expanded nationwide tour. Presented by Sutra Foundation, the Odissi dance production will travel to seven cities from April to June, reaffirming Malaysia’s place as a key platform for classical Indian dance in Southeast Asia.

Rooted in Spiritual poetry yet shaped by contemporary theatrical sensibilities, Radhe! Radhe! 2.0 offers audiences an opportunity to experience Odissi not merely as performance, but as lived philosophy.
A Dance Narrative of Radha and Krishna
At the heart of the production is Radha, the eternal beloved of Lord Krishna, whose emotional journey forms the core of this work. Drawing from Radha Prema Leela, a folk dance-drama tradition from South Odisha, the performance traces Radha’s inner world as she moves through longing, jealous, union, separation, and ultimately, surrender.

Rather than presenting myth as spectacle, Radhe! Radhe! 2.0 focuses on bhakthi, devotion as an emotional, embodied experience. Through intricate footwork, expressive abhinaya, and sculptural movement, the dancers explore love not as romance alone, but as a path toward transcendence and spiritual awakening.
Artistic Direction and Cross-Cultural Collaboration
The production is co-artitically directed and choreographed by Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, founder of Sutra Foundation, alongside Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda of Trishara, Bhubaneswar. Their collaboration reflects decades of shared research and practice in Odissi, blending classical purity with contemporary dramaturgy.

Datuk Ramli’s long-standing engagement with Indian classical dance has positioned him as a key figure in presenting Odissi to global audiences, while maintaining it’s philosophical depth. Together with Indian gurus and Malaysian dancers, Radhe! Radhe! 2.0 becomes a meeting point of tradition, scholarship, and modern performance language.
Enhancing the performance is a richly layered musical and visual framework. The production features original compositions and rhythmic structures guided by imminent gurus including Guru Dr Gopal Chandra Panda, and Guru Satchitananda Das. Visual projections inspired by Odisha’s Pattachitra painting tradition, created by artist Bibhu Patnaik, add a narrative texture that complements the dance.

Lighting design by Sivarajah Natarjan further shapes the emotional arc of performance, guiding audiences through moments of intimacy, tension, and spiritual release.
From Work Premiere to Nationwide Tour
Following it’s world premiere in Kuala Lumpur in October 2025, Radhe! Radhe! Toured major cultural centres in India, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and New Delhi, and was showcased at the ICCR’s 11th International Dance and Music Festival. The upcoming Malaysian tour, branded as Radhe! Radhe! 2.0, will bring the production to Kuala Lumpur, Seremban, Klang, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Kulim and Penang.

Through disciplined movement, evocative storytelling and collaborative artistry, the production offers a rare chance to witness classical Indian dance as both cultural heritage and present-day expression. For audiences seeking depth, beauty and meaning beyond spectacle, Radhe! Radhe! 2.0 promises an experience that resonates long after the final pose.
