The latest Tamil film Made in Korean is now streaming on Netflix, bringing together two different cultures, Tamil and Korean. Directed by Ra.Karthik, Made in Korea is a comedy-drama film, starring Priyanka Mohan, Korean actor Park Hye-Jin, Si-hun Baek, Rishikanth, and a supporting cast that reflects the film’s international setting.

The film premiered on 12th March 2026, and follows a story of a young woman Shenbagam from a small village in Tamil Nadu called Kolappur, who has always been fascinated by Korean culture and dreams of one day visiting Seoul.

Shenba’s journey to Korea eventually becomes more than just a travel story. What begins as a dream shaped by K-dramas, music, and culture turns into a deeper journey about self-discovery, resilience, and finding purpose in unexpected places. The film is simple, but at its heart are themes about women, choices and the courage to take the step.

Here are 3 reasons why Made in Korea stands out as a film worth watching

1) Shows How Dreams and Manifestation Can Simply Shape Lives

One relatable aspect of the film is Shenba’s deep love for Korean culture from a very young age. Growing up, she is so fascinated with Korean culture, which soon becomes more than fascination, it becomes her dream.

In various ways, the film explores the idea of manifestation. Shenba spends years imagining a life in Korea, and somehow life eventually takes her there. Not in a way she imagined. The journey becomes uncertain, messy and disappointing but instead of giving up, Shenba learns to adapt. The story reminds viewers that dreams rarely unfold perfectly, but persistence and openness to change can still lead to meaningful outcomes.

2) It Reminds Us That Dreams Have No Age

The film also portrays Shenba’s friendship with an elderly woman she meets in Korea. Their bond becomes one of the emotional highlights of the story.  Through this character, the film explores how many people give up their dreams due to family expectations. The older woman once had ambitions of her own but ended up living a life others planned for her, which she disliked.

Shenba then decides to help her and build the life she wishes to have. Something that symbolises freedom and the chance to finally live life on their own terms. The message is simple yet powerful; it is never too late to chase what you truly want.

3) The Story Draws Inspiration From a Real Historical Connection

While Made in Korea is fictional, its inspiration connects to a fascinating historical legend. According to ancient and history shared by Priyanka Mohan in an interview, an Indian princess named Princess Sembavalam is believed to have travelled to Korea around 2,000 years ago and later became a queen there after marrying King Kim Suro, the founding ruler of the ancient Korean kingdom of Geumgwan Gaya.

This cultural link between India and Korea adds another layer of meaning to Shenba’s journey. Her story becomes symbolic of how cultures can meet.

A Light but Meaningful Watch

Made in Korea is a feel-good film about friendships, growth and courage. It may not be a heavy drama, with a better storyline. But its warmth lies it’s simple message, dreams can take you to places you never expected, and sometimes the journey matters more than the destination.

With Priyanka Mohan carrying the film through a heartfelt performance, the film ultimately becomes a story about women learning to believe in themselves, no matter where life takes them. Watch Made in Korea, on Netflix!
