Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the Transport Minister, has issued an urgent reminder for public transport commuters to prioritize safety following an incident at the Abdullah Hukum LRT station yesterday.
A passenger fell onto the tracks on the Kelana Jaya Line during after-work hours, triggering the station’s emergency safety system as a train approached. Authorities confirmed that the passenger was successfully rescued, with the safety mechanisms functioning as intended to prevent a more serious outcome.

Emergency responders from the Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force acted swiftly, alongside LRT station staff, to manage the situation. The injured passenger was later transported to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment. The minister expressed appreciation to both rescue teams and commuters for their cooperation during the incident.
The disruption temporarily affected train services at several stations along the Kelana Jaya Line, with operations suspended and alternative transport arrangements activated. Services were restored within an hour once the situation was brought under control.
Following the incident, Loke urged all public transport users to remain alert and adhere to safety guidelines, emphasizing the importance of being cautious on platforms and always “minding the gap” when boarding or alighting from trains.
