Karthi will soon be seen in the upcoming flick ‘Kaithi’, an out-and-out action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of ‘Maanagaram’ fame. While the film was initially planned to release on July 19, the makers have now officially announced that film will it the screens for Diwali.
With the festival falling on October 27 (Sunday), looks like the film will release on October 25 (Friday).
‘Kaithi’ in Tamil means prisoner and Karthi seem to be playing a prisoner in the film. The movie is said to take place in jail with Karthi and fellow inmates planning a prison break. Filming was completed in 62 nights as the film was predominantly shot in the night. The film will not feel the absence of a heroine since Karthi does not have a romantic interest in the film.

SR Prabhu and Tiruppur Vivek will be bankrolling the project under the banner Dream Warrior pictures in association with Vivekananda Pictures. The film also stars Narain, Dheena, George Mariyan, Vijay TV Dheena and others in crucial roles. Sam CS is scoring the music for the film and Sathyan Sooryan is cranking the camera.
