Director Mari Selvaraj, who made a very strong impression with his debut film Pariyerum Perumal, will join hands with Dhanush for his second directorial venture. The project was announced a long ago but for the last few months, there’s been no update from neither the makers nor the director. However, latest reports suggest that the film, rumoured to be titled Karnan, will finally go on the floors in December. To be bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu, the film will have Malayalam actor Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised.

“Dhanush gave me the chance to work with him after watching Pariyerum Perumal. Just like my first film, this one will also address an important issue.”

The pre-production has been going on for the last couple of months. When the project was announced, Dhanush said he’s so excited to work with a talented director like Maari. Dhanush is expected to wrap up his work on Karthik Subbaraj’s project and then join the sets of Mari’s film which will be completed by February or March 2020.

Rajisha’s latest release in Malayalam, Finals, now running in theatres, has been receiving good reviews. The movie features Rajisha as a cyclist, working hard to win a medal at the Olympics, and make her dad’s dreams come true. Suraj Venjaramood plays the dad and Niranj plays her boyfriend. Rajisha has also been much appreciated for her performance in June, a film that featured her in different ages from 15 to 25.

Meanwhile, Dhanush film with Vetrimaaran Asuran will release on October 2. In Asuran, based on Tamil novel Vekkai, Dhanush will be essaying dual roles as father and son. The film also stars Manju Warrier in her debut Tamil film.
