Playback singer Swagatha S Krishnan is elated about the response she has been receiving for Adiyathe, her first independent single, directed by Muhilan Murugesan. Set against a village backdrop, the song has a couple falling in love after meeting at a festival.

“I have always wanted to be a composer and was particular about not becoming someone who leaves the career after staying in the limelight for a few years. I was trying to improve and evolve myself as a singer. The basic tune of the single was completed in half-an-hour.”
The artiste avers that she never had plans to play the lead in the single. She has approached many artistes to play the lead characters, but she got dejected as many of them declined the offer.Later, a few people asked her to take up the role. She also mentioned about her theatre and decided to take it up as a challenge.
Swagatha says that she will start shooting for her second single from next month, which is likely to be released around Pongal.
