She was last seen in the sequel of Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam 2. Pooja Kumar will be making a comeback in Kollywood with Sibiraj’s Kabadadaari. The film is directed by Pradeep Krishnamurthy and it is said to be the official remake of the critically acclaimed Kannada film, Kavaludaari. The remake marks the reunion of Sibi and Pradeep, who had previously worked together in Sathya, a remake of Telugu film Kshanam.
Dhananjayan, the creative producer had said,
“Pooja Kumar joining is a great addition of strength to Kabadadaari and her presence is expected to augment the intensity of this film. Her role is very crucial and it takes forward the story where each and every character is connected in one way or the other from one level to the next.”
The makers have also roped in Sathyaraj to play a key role in the film. A murder-mystery bankrolled by Laitha Dhananjayan under the banner Creative Entertainers, the film also has Nasser, Jayaprakash and Producer JSK in important roles. Simon K King does the music, Rasamathi has led the cinematography. The film is expected to release in March 2020.
It will be directed by Hemanth Rao, Kavaludaari was centered on traffic police who by accident stumbles upon a three-decade-old case and decides to investigate it. The film also starred veteran Kannada star Anant Nag in a pivotal role while Rishi played the main lead. While Sathyaraj would be seen in Anant Nag’s role, Sibi will reprise Rishi’s role.
Meanwhile, Sibi has three projects – Ranga, Maayon and Walter – that are gearing up for release soon. All three films are being directed by debutants. Title Walter is taken from Sibiraj’s father Sathyaraj starrer 1993 blockbuster titled Walter Vetrivel, in which he played a police officer. The film is set in Kumbakonam, and is about a small-town cop who gets to investigate a crime.
