Veeram and Viswasam fame Siva will be directing superstar Rajinikanth in his next film. Currently dubbed Thalaivar 168, the film is expected to start rolling from the third week of December.

Reports about Rajinikanth teaming up with Siva first emerged when the latter visited the former at his residence in May. Siva was invited over to congratulate him on the success of Ajith starrer Viswasam which Rajinikanth really liked.

It is wide speculated that the film will be set in the backdrop of a village with trademark Rajinikanth’s elements. While Jyothika and Keerthy Suresh are the frontrunners to be playing the female leads. Soori has been roped in to play a role in the film.

The film is being bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who are planning to release the film for Deepavali 2020. The makers have confirmed that D Imman will be the composer for the movie who had previously worked with director Siva in Viswasam. Also, Siva’s standard technical team – cinematographer Vetri and editor Ruben – have been roped-in.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth recently completed dubbing for AR Murugadoss directed Darbar and the film is gearing up for release for Pongal 2020. The film also stars Nayanthara, Sunil Shetty, Pratiek Babbar, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu in key roles. The film marks the return of Rajinikanth in the role of a cop after 25 years since he donned khaki in Pandian.

Produced by Lyca Productions, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichandran and this will be his second successive film with Rajinikanth after Petta. While Santosh Sivan will crank the camera,  leading stunt director duo – Ram and Lakshman – will choreograph the action sections and A Sreekar Prasad will edit the film.
