Kousalya Kharthika has become the first-ever winner of Indian game show Kodeeswari, the Tamil version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. She is also the first differently-abled contestant to bag the jackpot prize money of ₹ 10 million (RM 570,000).
The 31-year-old suffers from a speech and hearing impairment and communicates through lip-reading.
On her win, the Madurai lass said, “I have always depended on my family members for my day-to-day life. But right from my childhood I have been determined to learn and excel in whatever I do. I am more than honoured to be a part of this iconic game show, and equally proud to tell the world that ‘I am now a Kodeeswari.’”
Kodeeswari host Radhika Sarathkumar said, “Kousalya’s success is an inspiration. I wish her all the best and hope that this achievement helps her make a positive difference in her life,”
Kousalya has completed her MBA and currently works as a junior assistant at the district court of Madurai. She plans to use the money to help disabled persons, and travel the world.
This episode of Kodeeswari will be aired tonight on Colors Tamil at 9.00 pm Malaysian time.
