Veteran film star Radikaa Sarathkumar is a big name in the industry, forging a very successful run in the business post her days as a leading lady. 2020 marks her 42nd year in cinema, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

Vaanam Kottatum is one of the many movies she will be featuring this year. Directed and written by Dana Sekaran, who previously did the same for the 2018 thriller Padaiveeran, the film is close to its release, officially marked in for 7th February. Apart from herself, the film will also feature Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rajesh and Madonna Sebastian in the lead roles, as well as Radikaa’s husband and fellow veteran actor Sarathkumar in an important role.

Ahead of its release, the Vaanam Kottatum team recently launched the soundtrack of the film, Sid Sriram’s debut album as the lead composer, at a large event, at which Radhikaa was present.

She took the opportunity to share a light-hearted moment she had with the movie’s producer, co-writer and one of Kollywood’s most influential figures, Mani Ratnam.

Addressing the audience, Radikaa joked about how close she was to landing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s role in the upcoming 2021 epic Ponniyan Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam.

“Mani would prefer me to do all his important characters, but apparently Aishwarya Rai lacks a few inches than me which makes her, his ideal choice,”

Haha!

This left the crowd in splits, no one enjoys it more than Mani Ratnam, who laughed throughout Radhikaa’s entertaining speech.

While Radikaa may have missed out on a role in Ponniyan Selvan, she is not short of upcoming movies, having a whopping six movies in her kitty expected to release in 2020. Apart from Vaanam Kottatum, she has Jail, Kuruthi Aattam, and Pirandhal Parasakthi in the filming stage of production, and a further two projects with Gautham Menon’s Vikram starrer Dhruva Natchatiram and James Vasanthan directed Oh Andha Naatkal, both of which were expected to release earlier but have now been delayed.
