India Suspends Tourist Visas to Halt Covid-19 Spread

The Indian government has announced that all the tourist visas will be suspended until April 15th 2020.

This excludes diplomatic and employment visas. India has reported that the number of Covid-19 cases has doubled to 74 with one death in the past four days.

According to the government’s Press Information Bureau, the visa suspension is to begin on March 13th at 12:00 GMT at the port of departure.  All incoming travelers to the country, including Indians, who visited China, Italy, Iran, the Republic of Korea, France, Spain or Germany after 15th February will be quarantined for 14 days.

After the visa announcement, national carrier Air India said it was temporarily suspending flight services to Rome, Milan, and Seoul, the Press Trust of India reported.
