Do you miss listening to your favourite Malaysian Tamil band at that Bangsar watering hole? Fret no more, the good people at RK Projects and Sound Innovations have come up with a brilliant way for you to be entertained with live Tamil music from the comforts of your own home.

Titled Projekt Restart, this event will see Malaysian bands perform the best Tamil film songs over the years as you stream it on YouTube. The streaming will be done over the Sound Innovation YouTube Channel.

The team’s maiden venture begins with Kyra The Band. Promising a show filled with fun arrangements and fusion, this 5 piece band will go live on the 24th of May 2020. Kyra The Band consists of vocalist Prasad Krishnamoorthy, guitarist Rohan Tankaraj, drummer Stephen Raj, bassist Sasitharan Devadas and keyboardist Daniel Selvakumar.

In a statement, the organisers, RK Projects and Sound Innovations said, “This initiative is dedicated to Malaysian independent bands and their behind the scenes staff by providing them with a platform to showcase their mettle during the lockdown,”

The organisers went on to say that they welcome other Malaysian Tamil bands to be a part of this initiative. The venue and equipment will be provided by Stanley Edwards of Sound Innovation. “The whole concept of the show is independent fusion. We extend an invitation to all bands to perform under this initiative,” the statement read.

As we embrace the new normal, many of us have come to terms with the fact that live music may not be feasible in the near future. Thanks to Projekt Restart, we can now have a taste of live Tamil music once again.
