Acclaimed director Karthik Subbaraj’s last film, Petta, which had Rajinikanth in the lead role, garnered huge appreciation from audience as well as the critics. The film also marked Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Tamil debut.
The latest buzz in the industry is that Karthik Subbaraj will be directing Chiyaan Vikram’s 60th film and it will be produced by Seven Screen Studio. An official announcement will be made post the lockdown.
Karthik Subbaraj met Vikram last year during the shoot of the latter’s Iru Mugan and had narrated him the script. The film is said to be a gangster drama which will be majorly shot in and around Chennai.
The cast and crew of the film is yet to be finalised.
Meanwhile, Karthik Subbaraj’s Jagamae Thanthiram was supposed to hit the screens in May. However, the makers postponed the film due to the novel coronavirus crisis. They even released a poster recently, which bore the words, “Coming soon to cinema after jagam (world in English) heals.”
The film features Dhanush, James Cosmo of Game of Thrones fame and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles.
Vikram recently completed shooting for his upcoming film, Cobra, in which he will be sporting 25 different looks. Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, the film is said to be a sci-fi thriller.
