Padma Lakshmi Calls for Boycott of Skin Whitening Products

American model and TV personality Padma Lakshmi has called out brands that sell fairness products and promote the idea that being fair is what makes one beautiful, demanding that such products be boycotted.

Amid the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests Padma raised the issue of discrimination based on women’s skin colour on her social media platform.

Lakshmi, who hosts the US series Top Chef program vented her frustration over the fairness products that claims life will be perfect with fair skin.

Lakshmi isn’t the only celebrity to call out fairness products that exist in the subcontinent.

Actors Mahira Khan, Armeena Khan and Sanam Saeed recently stated that they have refused to endorse fairness creams and skin lightening products throughout their careers.
