Treat Yourself To This Star-Studded Indian Concert By Mojo Projects

Last two years, Mojo Concert Series brought over a bunch of renowned and world class Indian artists to give Malaysians an unprecedented and unforgettable gala concert.

This year, Mojo Projects Sdn. Bhd. are determined to outdo themselves with even bigger and better line ups – raising the bar even higher than before.

Four concerts, over 100 world-class musicians!

In attempt to do the impossible in 2018, Mojo Concert series is presenting a whopping four concerts in total – scattered over the course of the next few months.

So here’s how it’s going down: there will be 3 themed concerts and one Main Stage event. The 3 concerts will serve as a prelude and culminate in the ultimate main event – which will feature over 50 world-class musicians to deliver the most explosive and memorable show this year. It’s a real treat for an Indian music fans, and believe us when we say you don’t want to miss it!

Concert 1 – Madras: An 80s Musical 

Ever wish you could travel back in time and bask in nostalgia while listening to some evergreen Illayaraja hits? Then this is the concert for you.

With Madras as the setting, the nostalgia of the 80s will be revived by four notable names in the music industry – the very handsome and talented Aalaap Raju and his band, the funky Rahul Nambiar, the smooth Ranjith, and the ever sultry Saindhavi.

This production will intertwine audio visual and poetic aspects of the musical compositions, along with stories behind those beautiful melodies and movies.

The concert will take place on the 5th of May, starting at 6pm at the Hotel Istana in KL.

Concert 2: Triple Treat – A Battle of the Bands

One for the rock fans, the battle of the bands is envisioned to give you an explosive, head-banging concert. This concert will feature 3 super-bands on one stage, where they will rock and battle each other out to send the crowd into a frenzy!

The concert will open with Agam, the Bangalore-based contemporary Carnatic progressive rock band, who is making a comeback in KL due to popular demand. The crowd will then move on to the versatile and rich sounds of Stephen Devassy & the Solid Band. The night will end in a thriller performance by award-winning playback singer Naresh Iyer & The Navneeth Sunder Ensemble.

This concert will be happening on the 9th of June, starting 6pm at the Hotel Istana in KL.

Concert 3: Retro Rahman – A Tribute

There isn’t one person on this planet that isn’t a fan of the musical legend – AR Rahman. The music virtuoso has graced the world with his beautiful compositions for over 20 years, all the way back from Bombay, Dil Se, Roja, Taal, up until Slumdog Millionaire, Ghajini, Shivaji The Boss, and more.

The Oscar-winning legend will be celebrated in this concert by his very own contemporaries. Come witness the amazing tribute concert, powered by the vocals of the seasoned Unni Menon, Unni Krishnan and Harini, as they belt out their own super hits under AR Rahman and share their experiences working with the music director.

Also, look out for some witty banter by Anil Sreenivasan – a pianist and entertainer that will host a show for the first time in Malaysia.

Retro Rahman: A Tribute Will Take Place on the 7th of July, starting 6pm at the Hotel Istana in KL.

Concert 4: The MILFF 2018 – Main Stage

This is it – the culmination of it all!

The final main stage, organised the Malaysia Independent Live Fusion Festival (MILFF), will feature a burst of local talents, independent artists, complemented by world-class acts.

Local hip-hop and rap label #PU4LYF will open the night with a live band performance curated by Rabbit Mac himself. The performance will feature an ensemble of talent from his label – and it will be beyond upbeat rap and free styling, something that’s never been done before!

The crowd will also be pumped up by the exuberance of Satya Prakash and Pooja V – fresh out of their successful Vijay TV Super Singer run.

This duo will be paired with Rajesh Vaithiya – the world famous veena maestro and his eclectic band of musicians.

Things will then kick up a notch with “Sean Roldan Live”, featuring brand new sounds from singer and music director Sean Roldan and his band. Lookout for some of his own BGM and songs from renowned movies, including some big hits from his collaboration with Anirudh.

After that, brace yourselves to get hypnotised by the infectious energy of sassy Andrea Jeremiah and her band. The accomplished actress and singer will be doing a full band and live performance for the first time in Malaysia.

The night will culminate with the multi-talented musician Benny Dayal and his band. Benny Dayal & The Funktuation band have touring and performing all over the world – but this will be their first time in Malaysia. Benny has promised to deliver a selection of his greatest hits and treat the crowd with his trademark fusion music.
