Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 in a video released on Wednesday. He said he needed to get checked for Covid-19 owing to signs of fatigue, cold, and chest pain. He was admitted to the MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai on Wednesday morning.

The singer, who received several national awards and sung 40,000 songs in 16 languages, posted a video from his hospital bed that made it clear that he was on the path to recovery and that he would be home in two days.

He told well-wishers not to contact him, because he’s sure he’ll be stronger eventually. In the video, he says, “For two-three days, I’ve had a slight cough. I’ve had chest pain, which for a singer is nothing to worry about. I had a cold and a fever on and off. I didn’t want to take it lightly, and I went to the doctor to test things out. Doctors said that it’s a mild case of corona and I was asked to stay home and take medication as prescribed.”

“All my mates are here and I am in good hands. I am in good health and nobody has to worry about me. So, please don’t bother to call me and find out how I am. I am perfectly alright except for the cold. Even the fever has subsided. In two days, I will be alright. Thank you for your concern. I couldn’t attend every single call. I have come here mostly to rest so that there won’t be any disturbance. Thank you. I am fine, I will be fine.”

Get well soon, sir!
