Whether it’s damage, dryness, flakiness, frizz, or fading, we all run into hair problems every now and then. Seasonal changes, indoor heat, outdoor elements, and hot hair appliances are just some of the culprits that may affect such changes.

Below, we’ve listed the best DIY masks for all your toughest hair issues, from irritated scalp to dull hair, to damage and dryness. Shiny, lustrous hair is only a mask away and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home.

Honey, egg, and apple cider vinegar mask

If your hair is a little parched, try this honey, egg, and apple cider vinegar (ACV) mask. It’s a perfect hydrating solution that offers shine and nourishes without slowing down the fibers.

Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of ACV.

Instructions: Mix it in a small bowl. You either can double it up or apply half the formula depending on the length of your hair. Apply it for approximately 30 to 40 minutes before rinsing it off with water. This nourishing procedure works on all hair types.

Coconut oil, sugar, and essential oil mask

If flakes tend to grow on your scalp as the temperature decreases, it may be that the heat in your home is higher and your skin is drying out. Your scalp is no exception to this. This exfoliating procedure aims to eliminate and minimise flakes and acts as a great facial scrub.

Ingredients: You need 2 tablespoons of raw unrefined coconut oil, 4 teaspoons of raw sugar, 5 drops of peppermint oil, 2 drops of tea tree oil.

Instructions: Put the ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply the paste directly to two-inch sections of smooth, wet hair in the shower using your fingertips or a hairbrush. When applied evenly, softly massage for 1-3 minutes, then clip your hair and let it remain for the duration of your shower.

The sugar in this DIY scrub breaks down to the glycolic acid that dissolves dead skin cells. Coconut oil is high in fatty acids and has anti-inflammatory effects, peppermint oil helps facilitate scalp drainage and tea tree oil is anti-fungal, anti-microbial, and anti-bacterial.

Green tea and apple cider vinegar rinse

While green tea has a laundry list of health benefits, scalp soother can be added to its list. Thanks to its antioxidants and minerals, this strong component calms down and rebalances irritated scalp. Peppermint oil is the ideal complement; it has anti-inflammatory effects and tends to soothe and moisturise the sore scalp.

Ingredients: 1 cup of green tea, 2 drops of peppermint oil, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.

Instructions: Mix all three ingredients together, rub onto the scalp and allow it to rest for at least five minutes before rinsing it off with water.

Egg white and lemon mask

If you’re susceptible to greasy hair, an egg mask will work wonderfully. Only stay with whites that have protein enzymes that tend to extract excess oil.

Ingredients: 1 egg white, the juice from half a lemon.

Instructions: Smooth over the hair from the roots to the ends and leave the hair for 30 minutes to an hour, the longer is greater. Rinse with mild water, not hot!

Avocado, egg, and olive oil mask

Your hair may be affected by a number of reasons such as the usage of grooming devices, the climate, hair dye, and more. The positive thing is that it can be repaired.

Olive oil and avocado masks add the utmost power and shine to your hair. It’s also full of antioxidants that help fend off free radicals, which is particularly important for city dwellers. It also helps rejuvenate and moisturise the scalp.

Ingredients: Half an avocado, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of olive oil ,and 1 tablespoon of honey.

Instructions: Apply to wet hair with your fingertips, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Tie your hair in a bun and cover it with a shower cap. To help activate the ingredients, blow-dry your shower cap-covered hair for 10 minutes. Let it stay for another 20 minutes.

Happy experimenting! We hope you find the right hairmask to treat your hair and scalp problems.
