Long Distance Romance-Ways To Make Two Hearts Grow Fonder

Long-distance relationships (LDR) are tough. It doesn’t need to be sugarcoated. Being miles away puts stress on the relationship because it requires an extraordinary amount of trust and dedication. It can be so frustrating to keep the connection you once had when the two of you were right next to each other. Fret not. There are a variety of ideas to maintain love in long-distance relationships. Read all about it below.

Send a text message in the morning

It sounds sappy, but we’ve almost always been messaging each other good morning and good night. Its important to let your companion realise that you’re thinking of them when you get up and when you’re going to sleep. If you feel super optimistic, ask a few insightful questions like, “Did you have a good night’s sleep?” or “What are your plans for the day?”

Plan your date nights

Sure, you can’t sit in the same room, but you might be able to watch the same TV show at the same time. Some of the funniest memories of long-distance dating are curling up on the couch with the phone on the side while texting your boyfriend/girlfriend comments on the show that you’re watching.

Send the photo text of your day

It’s easy to communicate all day in today’s world if you want. Try to remind your lover that you’re thinking of him or her by sending an occasional photo text of something you’re doing.

Pay attention to phone calls

There is a tendency when you’re dating long distance to want to spend as much time together on the phone as possible. Since there are a lot of things to do around the house, you could also do laundry or dishes, or watch TV. What’s better, a short amount of quality time, or a long period of distraction, when neither person pays attention to each other? Merely try to place it on a chair and give your significant other your undivided attention. You would be surprised at the difference it makes!

Surprise him/her with a visit

You need to be careful about this one, as you don’t want to be an inconvenience. Hosting someone takes time and planning, so just give them a little warning.

Send him/her a gift

I’m pretty sure everybody loves a gift. Send them a bouquet, a chocolate or whatever they like as a sign of remembrance. A gift isn’t going to take those feelings away or replace you, it’s going to remind you two how much you love each other and perhaps even help you get through the longest periods apart.

Always plan for the next visit

As well as occasional surprise visits, make sure you know when you’ll see each other next. It gives you both something to look forward to, and you can count the days until you meet your lover once again.

Make sure to laugh together

Just send him/her a joke. Send a link full of funny pictures. There is an emotional connection formed when a couple laughs together, so keep that connection alive.

Video chat with one another

This was an activity that was either a lot of fun or quite frustrating. In this modern era, there are a lot of ways to video call. You can get in touch through FB Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, Skype, Face Time and many more. It helps to see your partner face-to-face, so try to find a good video app that you can both use.

Send an e-mail or snail mail love letter

Texting is great, but you can’t say much. A phone conversation is lovely, but you might not be able to articulate what you’re feeling on the spot. Take the time to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) to express exactly what you love about each other. If that isn’t love, I’m not sure what is!

One tough part in any LDR is to keep the romance and attraction going. You can’t look at one another in the eye, much less give hugs, kisses, or go on a romantic date. Hence, you need to be creative. Without romance, the relationship is just friendship, which isn’t a bad thing, but a lot of people crave something deeper.

Months could go by without seeing each other. You can get so caught up in your own life that you may tend to forget about the other person. This is sometimes understandable, but check out this list on ways to spice up your long-distance relationship when you feel like you’re losing touch with romance. LDRs can be a real pain, but there’s also the phrase, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Remember that and keep the sparks alive.
