Covid-19 and the subsequent recovery Movement Control Order (MCO) not only impacted the health of many but also the livelihood of many netizens. R. Gurubaran who hails from Rawang lost his job due to the pandemic. Before the COVID-19 crisis engulfed the nation, Guru was a company van driver.

He found himself jobless during the midst of the economic downturn. Instead of going on about his bad luck, he decided to open up a roadside stall selling Nasi Lemak packets for RM1.50. Guru has started to sell Nasi Lemak from early May and today he has opened two more stalls by selling the various kind of local delights.

From 40 packets of Nasi Lemak, the numbers escalate to 120 packets a day for all three stalls. Gurubaran and his family always believe that those early mornings and late-night hustle will be worth at the end. Today he can proudly say that he’s the owner of those three Nasi Lemak stalls.

“By doing so, I hope to help other youth who also want to generate income. My friends and I have started a group to recruit youths who want to do business. Those interested to join can contact 011-37343708,” says Gurubaran.

What intrigued us about his story is his determination.

Netizens from all walks of life have written messages of encouragement and support Guru on his Facebook account. Check out the post below:

Guru is definitely a shining example that hard work and a positive, never-give-up attitude does indeed pay off. If you have a dream, work hard for it, and the whole universe will help you achieve it.

We wish Guru good luck and keep striving forward!
