Malaysia has confirmed 835 new Covid-19 cases today, a drop from 1240 reported cases yesterday, taking the country’s total cases to 28,640.
Covid-19 active cases in the country has reached 9,903 with a record of two (2) fatalities due to complications arising from the virus. With 674 new discharge cases, 18,499 patients have fully recovered from the outbreak today (27th October).
The majority of Covid-19 cases are from Sabah with a total number of 410 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 155 cases reported today.
Meanwhile, Machines also similarly reported that two of its staff members from the Machines Support Center based in Northpoint Mid Valley has tested positive for the virus.
The company added that they are working closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to establish contacts for monitoring and quarantine purposes. Currently, the company is closed until further notice for disinfection and cleaning process.
It is also uncertain whether Malaysia’s public health care system would be strained by the doubling of new Covid-19 cases nationally. The epidemiological curve is comparatively high in the Klang Valley which hosts the largest Covid-19 hospitals in the region, in comparison to other major hospitals in other states.
As hospital beds quickly fill up, while lacking in health care staff, Sabah faces an additional burden in providing the best healthcare as it fights the widespread of the deadly Covid-19 virus, where 43 percent of Covid-19 patients are in need of immediate treatment and hospitalisation due to the severity of the virus.
To break the Covid-19 chain, we must be more vigilant in adhering to the necessary SOPs. Stay safe, keep yourself fit and healthy, and always wear a MASK.
