Temples Allowed To Open Doors Under Strict SOPs To Minimise The Spread Of COVID-19

All temples are now allowed to be open for devotees to perform their prayers and rituals while abiding to strict SOPs and restrictions in order to curb the deadly spread of COVID-19.

The Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique has approved the opening of Hindu temples  with strict SOP SUPERVISION under a time frame of 6 aM to 2 pM

The National Unity Minister announced today that the places of worship are mandated to hygiene their premises for 30 minutes before and after any religious activities or prayers. The regulation is required to be adhered by all devotees until the end of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on 18th February.

All devotees are to strictly register via the MySejahtera application prior to entering the temple premises. Devotees above the age of 60 are allowed to perform registration manually.

The SOPs stated by MKN includes the following;
1. Mandatory body temperature checks;
2. Wearing of face masks and
3. Maintaining social distancing at all times when inside the places of worship.

The minister had stated that the respective temple (s) shall be held accountable for compliance to the SOPs.

The rules and regulations comply to all other worship places in the country.
