As we all know, yesterday wasn’t just any ordinary Sunday. It was Valentine’s Day where people celebrated their love and passion for their dear ones across the globe.

We hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day with your special ones.  However, while many are celebrating this day together, sadly, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic there are some souls who have been distanced.

Worse is for those who have been tested COVID-19 positive, they do not even get to meet their spouse or family member as they are quarantined. While for many others, the borders remain close and have yet to visit their respective families back in Malaysia.

There are people who are miles and oceans away, without meeting their family and friends.

Team Varnam got in touch with Malaysians living abroad who made the best Valentines that they could despite being far away from their loved ones and this is what they had to say.

Tlamaraty, Australia

I would like to send this message to my family and friends, it’s been a year, 1 month and 11 days away from all of you and even though technology brings us together nothing feels like being in person with someone you love to be around. I want to send this beautiful message on this beautiful day, to all those people that have brought memories in my life. Thank you soooo much and I’m so grateful for all the love and I miss you all.

Satish, France

Nothing would have felt so special then being around with the people you adore the most. But sadly, this Valentine we had to celebrate away from people we love but thanks to technology, we could at least connect through it but we really can’t wait to come back and meet our friends and family there.

Akanksha, India

No matter where each of us stand, together we can look upon the same sun, the same moon, and the same sky, so we are forever one family. COVID has taught us that, at the end of the day if we are alive and healthy we should be so grateful to god !

Having my parents and brother living 3500KM away, and not being able to go visit them for over a year has been the hardest thing of 2020 & 2021, but it has also taught me that love has no bounds, and the internet has been the biggest boon, being able to talk to them for hours together in a day. Well, this too shall pass.

Reading all those messages, you can only say one thing, love knows no bounds.

Even if they are far apart, it is really beautiful seeing how much love is treasured, perhaps that’s why they say love knows no distance and time. Even though it is difficult, they make things work. That’s the best thing about love.

Love is not always between two people who are in a relationship. Your family, your friends, your pet, your plants and whatever means so much to you bounds together because of love.

If you have your dear ones just next to you, don’t hesitate to savour all the moments together because, especially at this time, you should be lucky to have them by your side. Let’s not just do this for one day, but celebrate your loved ones every day- like Valentine’s Day.
