With a 135-vote majority, she defeated incumbent Secretary Gabriel Susayan.

Incumbent Chairman V Murali did not offer to contest the position. Incumbent Bar Council Secretary A G Kalidas was again elected as State Representative to the Malaysian Bar.

Members voted through the online General Meeting Platform and the system, Convene, tabulated the results without human interference.

According to its website, there are 6,074 members in the state and the quorum required has been achieved.

This would also be the first time that a virtual annual general meeting has been held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nurul Muhaniza Hanafi, M K Thas, Desmond Ho, Shankar Sundaram, Eugene Roy Joseph, Yu Ai Tin, N Yohendra, Richard Teh, Fahmi Moin Halim and Zainal Habidin were elected as members of the committee.

Having said that, congratulations Kokila Vaani Vadiveloo for becoming the first woman to chair the Selangor Bar in its 56-year history.
