National Middle distance runner Savinder Kaur Joginder Singh made us proud by clinching a gold medal for Selangor in the women’s 800m at the Malaysia Open Athletics GP Championships which was held at the National Sports Council (MSN) Mini Stadium, Bukit Jalil.
Savinder made her debut at the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships in 2019 and spent 40 days training in Kenya on her own dime. Puspa Letchumy of Tengku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) had a successful training session, owing to her competent recurve coaches Padhmaloshini and V. Shankari.
Not to forget her memorable achievement, Savinder made the 800m run in just 2:11.95, which she set at the Asian Junior Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in 2016.
The 24-year-old athlete is currently pursuing her tertiary education in sports science at University Malaya (UM). This young lass has proven that excellence in sports remains a trade that is as equally important as academic success.
Congratulations Savinder Kaur!
