In Vishwaroopam 2, Andrea Jeremiah plays the character of Ashmita Subramaniam, who works closely with Kamal Haasan’s character. Recently, the actress mentioned that she was never intimidated by Kamal Haasan, despite his iconic status — many consider him to be the best actor in South Indian cinema of all time.
In a recent interview with Times of India, the confident Andrea Jeremiah had this to say:
I do not feel intimidated by actors or stars because I was never exposed to films widely. In Vishwaroopam 2, though I have worked with Kamal sir, I did not feel the pressure because I did not grow up watching his films. So it was never like I grew up admiring someone who I was finally sharing screen space with.
However, Andrea did praise Kamal Haasan’s talents.
As an actor and as an artiste, he is wonderful.
Many might be wondering why Andrea didn’t watch that many movies growing up? Could it be strict Asian parenting or just a general disinterest? However, the actress claims it’s because of her active childhood, who apart from her studies was also active in dance, stage performances and music.
I did not get the time to watch films a lot. But performing was always my thing, perhaps that is why I never feel intimidated.
Directed by Kamal Haasan, Vishwaroopam 2 features Kamal Haasan in the leading role, with the likes of Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles. The film will feature music by Ghibran who previously worked together with Kamal Haasan in Thoongaavanam and Papanasam.
