FMCO: List Of Economic And Social Sectors Not Allowed To Operate

Those permitted for business are only allowed to open from 8am to 8pm

In a move to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19 and its variants across the country, the government has yet again enforced the daunting movement control order (FMCO) effective 1st June (tomorrow).

In light of FMCO, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has listed businesses that will not be allowed to operate during the lockdown.

The lockdown was announced on Friday, following a record high of 8,290 new infections in the country. However, Malaysia saw 9,020 new cases, breaking the previous day’s record.

The senior minister stated at a press conferences that the list of businesses allowed to operate must only do so from 8am to 8pm.

Here’s a list of economic and social activities that are strictly “not allowed” :

  1. Dine-ins 
  2. Park
  3. Dine concept
  4. Photography
  5. Cyber cafès
  6. Horse racings
  7. Casinos
  8. Gaming and lottery companies.
  9. Farmers’ markets (pasar tani)
  10. Weekly markets
  11. Night markets
  12. Pasar tamu
  13. Spa, reflexology and massage centres
  14. Wellness centres
  15. Beauty salons
  16. Pedicure and manicure
  17. Hair salons and barbershops
  18. Furniture shops
  19. Car wash
  20. Jewellery stores
  21. Stationery and book shops
  22. Vehicle accessory shops
  23. Clothes, fashion and accessory shops
  24. Toy shops
  25. Sporting goods stores
  26. Flower shops
  27. Nurseries

Meanwhile, its business as usual for wholesale markets that are allowed to open from 12am to 6am and from 11am to 4pm. Daily markets and wet markets, on the other hand, can be open from 6am to 2pm. Farmers’ markets (pasar tani kekal), MyFarm Outlets (MFO), and Kompleks Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) can be open from 6am to 4pm. Controlled fresh markets (pasar segar terkawal) are allowed operation from 7am to 12pm.
