Running your own business is no piece of cake. Neither is raising a family and making time for community and social work.
Rita Kaur Olikh is one such lady. With an iron fist, the 46-year-old runs a logistics firm in Perak but is certainly more passionate, driven and enthusiastic to help the less fortunate. The single mother has patented a motto known as ‘Service to humanity is service to God,’ to make a difference in somebody else’s life. Holding the position of managing director of Libaas Logistics Sdn Bhd, she continues to inspire a new generation of women.
Being a single mom is NOT a setback!
Rita realised her calling at a very young age and pursued it. Now her children are following suit. Her eldest daughter’s participation in programs at her school’s Interact Club inspired her to join Rotary in 2017. At the age of 15 at the time, her daughter collaborated on a cancer project with her team members. It was a success as the young lass had managed to raise RM 22,000.
Sumaan Kaur Aulikh, who is known as the youngest member of the Rotary District’ 3300 Malaysia is currently studying psychology at Monash University, Malaysia campus.
On the other hand, Rita is actively engaged in various projects such as the Go Green Project, Teachers Making a Difference, Mental Health Issues in Young Children, Student Laptop Project, and hosting medical camps for the Orang Asli tribe.
In 2015, Rita was crowned as Mrs Malaysia World Ambassador at the Mrs Malaysia World pageant.
Entrepreneurship, like parenthood, isn’t a nine-to-five job. Even if it’s simply to breathe and smell the air, make time for yourself. Keep inspiring the younger generation of women out there.
