Five pupils from Pusat Tuisyen Sinaran Intensif (Private Institution) clinched their first gold medal by winning the International Science Project Competition 2021 (TURKEY) which was hosted by INTOC Global. Apart from that, the Malaysian Innovation, Invention, and Creativity Association (MIICA) also lent their support for this project.
The young inventors are Kirshavina Kumar (the leader of the team), Shabariraj Rajendran, Rubinya Nair Suresh, Yuvan Thinagaran and Yuvhashinee Thinagaran.
“Every child deserves to have a champion, somebody who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be” – Rita Person –
Due to COVID-19, the competition was held virtually where contestants submitted their application and innovation online. Their invention beat 180 other teams from 21 countries. Selected inventors had to showcase their invention through a Zoom call to the panel judges.
They won gold for their invention aptly called Sustainable and Plantable Antibacterial Banana Leaf Herbal Organic Glove. It was designed to eliminate pollution in the globe caused by humans. As a result, researchers invented a herbal organic glove that grows like a plant when discarded, minimising pollution and the risk of acquiring germs that can make one ill, as well as itching, suppuration, and irritation on the user’s hand surface.
The team’s advisor for this respective project is Thipanraj Katigesu, a dedicated science teacher that has put in a lot of hard work by relentlessly training and preparing the students for the competition.
The judges and even team Varnam were spellbound and impressed by their achievements at such a young age.
Way to go, kiddos!
