Last year saw Thalapathy Vijay’s — when did he level up from Ilayathalapathy? — biggest hit to date, Mersal. This Deepavali will see the release of Sarkar, Vijay’s third collaboration with director AR Murugadoss, who previously gave Vijay two critically acclaimed masala hits in Thuppakki and Kaththi.
As with any masala movie, especially one starring Vijay, who’s known for his excellent dance moves, fans eagerly anticipate the film’s songs to drop too. The excitement only heightens when the soundtracks are composed by the legendary AR Rahman, who also composed the music for Mersal. As part of their marketing effort, the producers of Sarkar released one song a few hours ago (video above).
Sarkar is a mass-masala political film starring Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi. The film is helmed by AR Murugadoss, who in addition to Vijay hits, also helmed other financially and critically successful films like Ghajini and Raja Rani. What’s interesting about Sarkar is Murugadoss’ collaboration with writer B. Jeyamohan, who co-penned films like Papanasam and Kadal. The film is composed by the Oscar-winning AR Rahman and is set for a Deepavali release.
