In light of the current pandemic, single mothers are one of the most vulnerable demographics. There is no magic bullet that will make this crisis go away.
Things were fine for a young woman, Glory Selvadurai till she lost her husband in a motorbike accident last year in Singapore. Despite going through a painful journey in her life, Glory chose to remain strong and live for her young son. She decided to start manning a Nasi Lemak stall to put food on the table for her small family.
Since the beginning of her comparative simple business, the mother of a three-year-old son received an unexpected outpouring of support from the public when one of her good friend (Poonam Pillay) shared the pictures of Glory’s stall to show support for her new business.
Is there anything easy in the life of a single mother’s life?
Surely no. But for the sake of her son, Glory continues to fight on and improvise on her business to date. She serves as an inspiration for the rest of women’s. Her journey as a single mother further deepens her grasp of the challenges women face in work and life on a daily basis.
Glory took to her Facebook page by stating;
“I’m not going to go through life feeling unworthy. I’m not going to let what happened to me, what didn’t work out, who did me wrong, keep me from becoming who I was born to be.”
All I would say is, you are doing an excellent job, Glory. Not only you yet every mother deserves a pat on the back. I know it is more challenging for single mothers, but you’re doing a great job. Keep moving forward!
Here is a big shout-out for Johoreans.
