Introducing Superintendent Saravanan As Head of National Central Bureau (NCB/ INTERPOL)

Superintendent Saravanan Kanniappan has made the Indian community proud after being appointed as Head of the NCB (National Central Bureau) Interpol, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Malaysia Police which was effective on 1st July 2021. 

He received his early education from SJK (T) Ladang Ayer Tawar, Perak and pursued his Masters in Criminal Justice at Universiti Malaya (UM) after obtaining his degree in Biomedical Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). His forensic dreams came true by joining the police force. 

Hailing from Ayer Tawar in Sitiawan, the 44-year-old officer started his career in 2003 as a Senior Investigating Officer and has vast experience serving in the Criminal Investigation and Anti-Narcotics Department in various investigation capacities. 

In 2010, he was also awarded a Chevening Scholarship to study for an MSc in Forensic Medical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He also holds a PhD in Security and Crime Science (Forensic Taphonomy).

He also serves as a Police Superintendent of the Forensic DNA Databank of Malaysia. Congratulations on your appointment, Superintendent Saravanan Kanniappan!
