Here is a dose of good inspiration for you – take a look at the fitness regime of Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam SC who is a Singaporean politician and lawyer.
Can you imagine lifting up 105 KG of barbells when you are 62?
While we believe that as we age, we should be relaxing and taking it easy, this 62-year-old is lifting heavy weights and, quite literally, shattering limits. The Minister of Home Affairs and Law came into the limelight after he shared a post of him breaking a sweat at the gym by showing himself lifting barbells with varying weights on his Facebook page today (14th Aug).
According to The New Paper, he has been integrating weight training into his fitness regimen for a little more than a year. He used the opportunity to share a glimpse of his workout routine and to remind the public of the significance of fitness.
After several months of tracking his development, he showed how he successfully lifted weights from an early age in the following order:
- 80kg
- 85kg
- 90kg
- 105kg
His achievement drew numerous plaudits from netizens, as they noted that his final weight of 105kg is 150 percent of his 70kg frame. Despite the compliments, the post was mainly posted on his Facebook page as an intention of educating the upcoming and current generation on the importance of exercise.
In addition to that, Kasiviswanathan says he’s planning to lift 120kg of weights next to keep himself going. He wants to inspire more people to exercise, whether it’s by walking, swimming, going to the gym, or simply being active. This is because exercise is essential for staying attentive, being productive at work, and being fit.
Bear in mind that, your mind is the most powerful tool you possess. Who says you can’t lift weights once you’ve reached a certain age? Well, nothing can stop you if you are determined and diligent. Set little goals for yourself and you will achieve them over time.
