It has been more than nine months since security guard, Thava Sagayam Santhanasamy was brutally assaulted at Menara Majestic Condo in downtown Ipoh which caused his ultimate death. Now the accused Ahmad Noor Azhar B Muhammad is facing a murder charge.
Notwithstanding the preliminary findings and the arrest of the former Bersatu Party’s active member who was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a death penalty if found guilty. As per Malaysian law, murder is classified as a non-bailable offence.
In the aftermath of the victim’s unfair death, Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran who was moved and sympathised over the death of the 64-year-old made it a priority to help the family get justice.
The 33-year-old was accused of murdering the security guard while on duty on 29th December, 2020. The elderly man was pronounced dead on 27th August 2021 (Friday) due to complications of the brain. The bedridden guard spent over nine months in the hospital and underwent eight operations before returning home and died a few days later.
Despite fulfilling his duty sincerely, uncle Thava doesn’t deserve such a cruel death and we the minority will no longer remain silent on any injustice and brutal attacks toward an innocent person.
In an earlier statement, the accused was charged under Section 324 and he was detained for two days before appearing at the Ipoh magistrate court on 6th January, under Section 335 with a minor case. On the same day itself, the accused was out under bail and freely roaming around without any form of remorse.
Besides that, the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has vowed that justice will prevail over the unfortunate death of Thava. He stated that no one is above the law and thanked Kulasegaran for his assistance to the late Thava’s widow, E. Philomena. The 59-year-old has previously expressed her appreciation to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) after receiving a total of RM14,737 and a lifelong compensation for her husband’s death.
