The Temple of Fine Arts senior dance teacher Vasuki Thiruchittampalam was awarded with the Lifetime Award for Teaching, “Acharya Mani” by Apsaras Arts Dance Company at the Indian Performing Arts Convention (IPAC), held in Singapore.
The prestigious convention, IPAC had taken place from the 3rd to 19th September 2021. The conference is aimed at industry professionals, including musicians and dancers, researchers, arts fans and connoisseurs, as well as heritage and history enthusiasts. For the past 9 years, they have been gathering 1000 practitioners and 8000 Indian art fans to this unique programme.
Padmashri Ramli Ibrahim, a renowned Malaysian Odissi exponent, handed this prestigious award to Shrimati Vasuki on behalf of IPAC in Kuala Lumpur.
IPAC annually honours lifetime achievement awards to performing arts teachers.This year, two Singaporean traditional Indian dance instructors have been honoured for their lifetime achievements in 2021, along with a Malaysian dance teacher in 2020.
“The aim of IPAC is to enhance the awareness and competencies of artistes by providing them with knowledge that will help them master their art and equip them with skills that will put them on par with the finest in the world,” says IPAC convener Aravinth Kumarasamy.
