Police Officer Harethaess Charged For Distributing Ecstasy Pills

The court set 5th December for mention.

A Lans Koperal (L/kpl) policeman and a teenager was charged at the Johor Magistrate’s Court here for distributing 181.95 grams of ecstasy pills in late September. 

Accused, C. Harethaess, 27, and P. Darshan, 19 nodded after the charge was read to them before Magistrate Suhaila Shafiuddin. There was no plea made and no bail was granted.

According to the charge sheet, both of the accused reportedly committed the crime at a car park near a healthcare centre in Jalan Persiaran Southkey 2, Kota Southkey. The act is an offence under Section 39B (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and is punishable under Section 39B (2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Based on a MyStar report, DPP Nur Aina Syakira Muhammad Syafiq Sim led the prosecution. Darshan, was represented by Muhammad Firdaus Adnan, Muhamad Wafiq Hadie, and Amer Ashrhaf Azuddinilan while Harethaess, who was with the Labu police station in Negeri Sembilan, was unrepresented.
