Shruti Hassan Joins A String Of Actors Who Now Have Their Own TV Shows

Gorgeous Shruti Hassan is following in her father’s footsteps and dipping her toes into the world of TV shows. The actress now hosts Viu’s Hello Sago, a celebrity talk show. The show airs on Viu and aims to cater to the Tamil audience. Shruti joins a string of actors who have made the leap into anchoring television shows. The show currently airs over Viu, an Asian entertainment service.

This includes Vishal with his show Naam Oruvar, Prasanna who hosts Soppana Sundari and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar with her show, Unnai Arindaal. Raadhika Sarathkumar, Surya, Sarathkumar, Kushboo and Prakashraj have been a few others who have pioneered the leap over to the idiot box.

Why are all of them making the switch? Better reach, apparently. The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) released a report recently that reveals viewers in South India spend more time on TV than viewers in the Hindi speaking market. The average daily time spent on television is nearly four hours in South India, according to the report. Contrary to popular belief, a large percentage of the viewers are the youth between 15 to 30 years of age. TV seems like the quickest way to win their hearts.

So far, it looks like Shruti has interviewed Harish Kalyan, Raiza, Meena and director K S Ravikumar on her show, that is conducted completely in Tamil. And for those wondering, the ‘sago’ in the title of her show denotes the term friend.

The actress’ talk show persona seems to be a bubbly one, and she isn’t afraid to dredge up some old secrets of her guests. She has been hailed as a breath of fresh air, and some healthy competition for the existing talk show hosts. Shruti’s talk show appears to be the Tamil version of Telugu talk show, No 1 Yaari, hosted by the dashing Rana Dagubatti.

If you’re not on Viu, watch Shruti ask her compatriots difficult questions on Hello Sago here.
