Malaysians Come Together In Trying Times #kitajagakita

One positive aspect of the recent flash floods is that Malaysians of all sizes, colours, and sexes have united together to assist those in need.

Malaysians of all races and religions have come together in the midst of suffering to take care of each other’s well-being, showing that the hashtags #KitaJagaKita and #RakyatJagaRakyat are really true.

Let’s take a look at some of the unsung heroes and moments that have gone viral as a result of their noble acts of generosity.

1. ‘Abang Viva’

In the current flood crisis, Azwan Omar, widely known as ‘Abang Viva,’ has been one of the unsung heroes who has been hailed all over social media. He drove a Viva from Melaka to Selangor with a boat-mounted on the top to rescue flood victims.

His humanitarian gestures have been recognised and appreciated by Malaysians on social media, who have praised him as a hero of the people.

Azwan posted a Tiktok video to tell the public that the Malaysia Civil Defence Department (APM) had presented him a certificate of gratitude for his efforts.

Thank you, Abang Viva, for your selflessness and never-ending support to people who have been affected by the floods.

2. Indian Boys cleaning a mosque in Klang

Many netizens were lured to a video posted by Tiktok user @rejean0810 in which a group of Indian boys are seen cleaning up the mosque with mops and pails in their hands.

This video has received 604.3K views and more than 7k comments. Many netizens expressed their thankfulness in the comments section.

3. Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya

Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya has contributed a huge part to flood relief work.

Images showing the Sikh community, together with volunteers of other ethnicities, cooking, preparing, and serving Langgar (free meals) to the victims have gone viral on social media, earning a lot of attention.

All of the food served was Halal and vegetarian. One of the most heartwarming acts of the Sikh community was going above and above to prepare special prayer spaces for Muslims.

Netizens applauded them and offered to help, praising them for going above and above to create prayer rooms for Muslim pals.

4. Pau vendor handing out free pau’s to flood victims

A pau vendor popped up to a flood relief shelter on the spur of the moment to throw out free paus to the victims.

Uncle Kentang, also known as Kuan Chee Heng, wrote a heartfelt Facebook post about the incident.

According to him, the uncle arrived in his pau van and parked it near the flood rescue shelter. He told everyone to come over and eat paus completely free. He shared a van load of paus with people who were hungry.

Uncle Kentang bestowed upon the generous man the title of ‘Uncle Senyum Pau’ in appreciation of his great deeds.

5. Islamic university students join hands to clean the Hindu temple

Many Malaysians have been moved by a viral video showing a group of young people of many races cleaning up a Hindu temple in Taman Klang Utama.

Volunteers from Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) and university students from the International Islamic University Malaysia in Gombak were among the young heroes featured in the video.

Many people have clearly been impressed by the video that @nallan.dh has released. The video has over 419.7k views and 2kk comments.

6. P. Puvaneswaran provide free electrical repairs and services for flood victims

P. Puvaneswaran has been giving free electrical repairs including wiring services to those who have been affected by the hazardous flood.

Every day, he made 15 to 20 house visits, giving flood victims free electrical repairs and wiring services. P. Puvaneswaran is one such good Samaritan.

7. Convoy of 56 4×4 Vehicles From Perak 

Perak Press posted a video on Facebook showing a convoy of 56 (44) cars on their way from Perak to help flood victims in Hulu Langat.

The video becomes viral on the internet, and netizens are delighted to watch the oncoming assistance, despite the distance. The majority of them commended the volunteers for their work and wished them safe travels.

@mijaaahaeyo, a Tiktok user, posted a video of an Indian uncle that has garnered 408.4k views and 584 comments.

Despite the victims’ terrible situation as a result of the flood, an Indian uncle stepped forward to be a laughter bomb in the midst of the chaos.

Whatever what they were going through, the victims were persuaded to smile and giggle by that uncle’s act. The behaviour of that uncle was praised by netizens.

9. Disability of Mohamad Shukor Jab doesn’t stop him from helping the victims

Mohamad Shukor Jab is a disabled person (OKU), yet he literally inspires others by helping flood victims clean up their houses.

According to Astro Awani, the 45-year-old man desire’s motivated him to assist others helped him overcome his flaws, which result from an injury he had when he was 11 years old.

Mohamad Shukor was one of the volunteers with the ‘Dirt Buster Team,’ a group that comes to aid with house cleaning.

His compassion will undoubtedly motivate many Malaysians to come out and assist others in need.

Yes, this year’s disastrous flood has caused much sorrow for many people, but it has also brought many people together and proved what we as a community can accomplish even with the least amount of help.
