It’s confirmed that off-site PPV’s will no longer accept walk-ins following high demand for free COVID-19 vaccine booster shots.
Off-site PPVs are those set-up at shopping malls, community halls, etc!
In the face of soaring infection numbers caused by the highly contagious Omicron variant, and hints that immunity triggered by COVID-19 vaccines might fade over time, Malaysia had initiated walk-in registrations for the booster shots on 22nd November.
Nothing seemed to go right after quite a number of senior citizens were found to line up in long queues outside a vaccination centre at Pinhorn Road, Penang. Besides that, the long queues and crowds have been spotted at various vaccination centres in the Klang Valley as people were hoping to get their booster shots even though they did not have appointments.
In response to the surge of walk-ins, ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) has decided to call off the walk-in programme and encouraged the public to call and be put on a waiting list instead of physically heading to vaccination centres (PPVs). ProtectHealth has further added that MySejahtera will still continue giving out appointments, hence individuals are advised to keep track of their appointments on the app.
