“Urumee Melam” Masana Kali Fosters Friendship and Unity During Recent Thaipusam Celebrations

As a citizen of a multiracial homeland, it is our responsibility to forever safeguard and cherish the unity that we enjoy. 

Born with sensibilities far removed from Indian ethos, several Malaysians have nevertheless danced their way into the hearts of Indian classical music connoisseurs.

Malay boys & Chinna Rasa Urumee Melam Masana Kali have played a unique role in enriching the musical heritage of the country. Who’d have thought they’d be able to nail the ancient form of folk music brought to Malaysia by Indian labourers years ago?

Eventually, their performances garnered the attention of the devotees who were fulfilling their vows at Sri Subramaniyar Temple, Batu Caves.

The prosperity enjoyed is the direct result of Malaysians’ willingness to practice the spirit of unity amidst the diversity of the religions, races and cultures being the bedrock of our beloved homeland’s prosperity.

Every now and then, we come across a heinous incident that threatens to destabilise the country’s peace. However, this time around, the audience were left awestruck by the sneak peak video, which portrayed Malaysians to be more connected than they had been in previous months.
